A Research-Practice Partnership to Integrate Computer Science into Rural East Tennessee Schools

Computer Science for Appalachia (CSA) is a project aimed toward expanding understandings of how educator professional development (PD) and classroom practices contribute to how literacy and computer science (CS) are integrated in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. This project leverages a research-practice partnership (RPP) to co-design and implement professional development and related tools to increase K-8 students’ access to computer science and to investigate how CS learning can be framed productively for K-8 teachers and students in East Tennessee Appalachia.
